What if time slowed down,
And she only had her senses
To mark her progress,
Feeling her way through,
Instead of watching numbers tick by?
What would she do instead?
What would she try?
Getting ready to go on vacation always makes me think more about time.
There’s so much to do to get ready to leave and so much of it has to be done at the last minute.
I mean, you can only pack so early.
And I do all this in order to go somewhere else and not worry about time for two weeks.
Simply sleep when I’m tired, get up when I’m rested, eat when I’m hungry, drift back and forth to the beach.
Yes, I could live more like that. Our bodies, minds, and souls are designed to live more like that.
And yet, we’ve designed a world for ourselves where we rely so much on time to guide us.
No wonder it’s hard to be present when the present is so directed by numbers that truly don’t mean anything.
What if we stopped vacationing just to have more rest, relaxation, and the opportunity to do absolutely nothing – and instead created a world that from which we didn’t need an escape?
