It’s the small things
That mean the most
Tiny cries for help
In the dark night of her soul
That move her most
And call her into being
One small thing
At a time

I admit I’m mostly a big-picture person.
I can dwell in the details – and sometimes get paralyzed there – but I’m usually up in the trees looking out across the forest.
Which means I can get stuck up there at times and miss the small things that matter.
These days, the small things are often two little foster kittens that constantly keep me on my toes.
Their tiny cries melt my heart and I just want to make life perfect for them.
Many times, the small thing is the little voice inside that also needs or wants something.
Nourishment, growth, affection, play.
We’re not so different in our needs and wants.
And it’s paying attention to both the small things and the big picture that helps me discern what’s important to focus on next.
What I need. What someone else needs.
What small things are you focusing on today?
