She finds her valor
In reinventing the meaning
Of old experiences
Until the darkness is wrung free
By her own bare hands
And her light
Shines through the cracks
Bold in its radiance
Defiant in its willingness
Sometimes a word just comes to me: valor. What it is about valor?
Courage, especially in the face of danger. But what danger?
For me lately, it’s the danger of letting the past define the future.
Believing that what I’ve thought to be true is my path, without fair examination or exploration.
And upon realizing that what I thought was true really isn’t, the danger becomes what to do with that new awareness.
If we’re paying attention, we know we’re faced with this throughout our lifetime.
The choice to reexamine what we thought we knew, to persevere, to know when to let go…these aren’t physical dangers.
They are mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. The danger comes in not examining them.
Some things we hold onto. It’s not their time to transition. And some things call to us to be transformed.
Only we know the path.
What is calling for you to be courageous and explore today?
