When her mind is quiet
Does it mean she’s disconnected?
Or drowning in silence?
Some of us don’t mind the chaos
She thinks
And the silence feels like a roar
Some of us hear in between
The lines of what’s now
And what’s next
Perhaps she’s exactly
Where she needs to be

The more I learn about myself, the more I’m unlearning about how to be.
I’ve embodied so many messages about the right way to do things. The appropriate way. The conventional way.
Those ways have never worked me, though I’ve tried desperately to fit in those boxes.
Even really beneficial practices like meditation are not a one-size-fits-all.
Quiet your mind! Really?
How about I channel the never-ending thoughts into less chaos and more insight?
How about we all use what comes natural to our advantage rather than being coerced into doing things like everyone else?
Yes, coerced.
Because the message is constantly, “Do it this way” and “Do it my way”, and my personal favorite, “We’ve always done it this way”.
Well, some of us are here to do it our own way.
Some of have fought that urge for way too long.
And some of us can’t fight it anymore.
I’m some of us. Are you?
