Oh God,
This prayer for peace
Falls faintly from the lips of man,
Eroded by the deeds of doers past,
Shrouded by their heavy hearts
Clinging to belief in hope instead of action,
Fighting to bring peace,
Loving only those
With whom we can agree,
Our doctrines, temples, broken hearts
Could not prepare us for this time,
All built on rocky layers
Of prejudice and doubt,
And so we dig from beneath the rubble
Of our own unsteady hearts
To salvage what humanity we have left,
To create the second coming,
A new world within
